Incumbents are responsible for supervising a wide variety of maintenance activities to include equipment, collection and distribution systems, solid waste, meter services, and water and wastewater operations. Duties include: conducting performance evaluations; interpreting and enforcing policies and procedures; supervising, scheduling and coordinating service, maintenance and repair activities; coordinating activities with other supervisors; performing site or plant inspections; maintaining required records and preparing related reports; inventorying and ordering materials and supplies; instructing staff on proper use of equipment; soliciting bids from vendors and contractors; ensuring efficient and effective operations; preparing cost estimates and schedules for proposed projects; and, investigating and responding to complaints from customers.



Duties/Responsibilities:
Supervises staff to include: assigning and monitoring work, ensuring training, resolving conflicts, approving leave requests and overtime, maintaining timecards, interviewing applicants, and conducting performance evaluations.

Provides technical advice and guidance to staff, instructs staff on proper use of equipment and interprets and enforces policies and operating procedures.

Coordinates equipment maintenance and repair activities to include coordinating activities with other supervisors.

Attends and participates in meetings related to area and or projects.

Compiles, reviews and/or records data in order to maintain required records and to prepare related reports.

Inventories and orders materials and supplies to include soliciting bids from vendors and contractors.

Prepares cost estimates and schedules for proposed projects.

Investigates and responds to complaints from customers and staff.

Checks the status and condition of County vehicles, facilities and equipment in order to schedule for repairs or preventive maintenance.

Performs site or plant inspections ensuring efficient and effective operations.

Performs complex maintenance related to leaks, backflow preventers, meters and/or service lines.

Conducts related training and or schedules staff for training.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.


Qualifications:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) and three (3) years of related maintenance and repair experience; or, any combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties as listed above.

License: Valid Class A CDL with tanker endorsement required
Confined space entry certification required
Current Ohio: Water Collection Systems Operator Class II License or Water Distribution Operator Class II License or Water Supply Operator Class II License or Wastewater Operator Class II License required.

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, driving, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, personal injury, physical violence, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises, inclement weather and travel.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
