Under direction, utilizes considerable experience and thorough knowledge of major engineering support and administrative functions to effectively plan and provide related services and support. Employees of this specialized class respond to a variety of engineering, public relations and/or computer support duties. Utilizes current county-wide and/or department specific software to complete assignments.

Employees of this class will be assigned to the construction permit review process, including the examination of consultant prepared water, sewer, sewage treatment, or storm drainage construction plans for complete detail and necessary materials to meet County design, maintenance, and safety needs. Obtains plan approval before issuing construction permits. In the sewage treatment area, may provide a variety of specialized computer software and database programming needs to supply detailed operational data.

Qualifications:
1. Possess a minimum of eighteen (18) semester credit hours of engineering, computer science,
or technical college training in a closely related field; AND

2. Have two (2) years of full-time experience providing computer support that included training
staff in the use of applications, troubleshooting network and other hardware problems,
technical assistance, and coordination with the primary Information Technology authority.

NOTE: Additional college course work in computer science or management information systems may substitute for the general engineering support experience and assignment specific experience on a year for year basis within the Computer Support and Equipment Telemetering areas.

An additional one (1) year of full-time experience performing duties that are specific to the area assigned may substitute for the minimum 18 semester hours of college training.

3. Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this class.

4. Successfully complete the six month probationary period.
