In the morning we will touch upon the nuts and bolts of building a digitization program. We’ll start from the very beginning as we discuss the reasons why you want to start scanning, the equipment and knowledge potentially needed, and workflows to achieve your goals in a timely and efficient manner.
The workflow section will include topics such as: selection of materials, gathering information about the materials (e.g. copyright, statistics, etc.), scanning best practices, creation of derivatives, backing up your work, providing access to your ravenous public, etc. Examples will be given of projects performed at each presenters’ institutions.

Following lunch we will have a question and answer session about the digital projects that you are working to complete and or start. Bring your questions and concerns and receive answers from the experts. You will also have the opportunity to tour the Digi Lab.
Then you will hear about the DPLA (Digital Public Library of America) from Jen Johnson, DPLA Project Coordinator, State Library of Ohio.
