Margot Kyd knows the consequences of taking a stand for faith when silence or compromise would be easier. As we approach the Christmas season and are reminded of its true meaning, Margot's story will challenge us to consider whether we are willing to take a stand for truth if it might cost us everything we have worked hard to attain.
Margot graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a master’s degree in business after receiving her bachelor’s degree from the University of Kentucky. She joined SDG&E in 1980 as a financial analyst and today is Vice President of Supply Management and Fleet Services for SDG&E/Sempra, providing service to 3.4 million consumers in San Diego and Southern Orange Counties, and for SoCalGas, the nation’s largest natural gas distribution utility, serving 20.1 million consumers. Previously, she was Senior Vice President of Business Solutions and Chief Environmental Officer, and has also served as Vice President of Human Resources for Enova Corporation, and Vice President of Marketing and Customer Service for SDG&E from 1996 to 1998.
Margot is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of San Diego, is Chairman of the Board for both Life Perspectives and Catholic Exchange, and is a board member for the Los Angeles Urban League, the Women’s Resource Committee, and the National Association of Women Business Owners-L.A. Foundation. She is a former board member of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the Japan Society of San Diego and Tijuana, Mexico, the San Diego United Way, and the Arthritis Foundation. She has also served on the Board of Directors of Pantellos Corporation, a for profit emarketplace for the energy utilities industry.
