MWEA - Event Information
Event Name:
WRRF Academy: Process Model Training (7-part series)
Event Type(s):
Workshop
Description:
MWEA is excited to announce the launch of the WRRF Academy with the Advanced Biological Wastewater Treatment – Process Model Training. Developed in response to needs identified during the first EGLE grant, the Academy is designed to update practicing process design engineers, regulators, and operators in the use of wastewater process design models to simulate the impacts of changes in waste stream and process design. Training in process modeling will help to establish a common understanding of the tools for evaluating technologies. ***NOTE: This workshop registration is full. To be added to the waitlist, please email mwea@mi-wea.org. The workshop will also be offered again in the near future and we will offer the waitlist attendees the first opportunity to register for the new dates.***
This training will be delivered remotely in a series of one and one-half hour modules. Each participant will have the opportunity to bring a problem of interest to them. The course instructors will assist them to develop a working model.
Key topic areas addressed include:
Wastewater components and their importance
Important biological treatment processes
Use of process models.
A team consisting of the following individuals developed and will deliver the module:
Evangelina “Lina” Belia, Primodal
Matthew Britton, C2AE
Glen Daigger, University of Michigan
Michael Faeth, C2AE
Drew Hansen, Hubbell Roth and Clark
Dan Royal, Hubbell Roth and Clark
Tanush Wadhawan, Dynamita
There will be a total of seven training sessions held VIRTUALLY from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM on the following dates:
Tuesday, February 9th: Introduction & Wastewater Characteristics
Tuesday, February 23rd: Relevant Microbial Processes
Tuesday, March 9th: Process Stoichiometry & Kinetics
Tuesday, March 23rd: Building and Calibrating Process Models
Tuesday, April 6th: Process Options
Tuesday, April 20th: Example Model Applications
Tuesday, May 4th: Class Wrap-Up
Additionally there are (6) 1-hour individual coaching sessions in between each of the scheduled sessions. Date and time will be coordinated between the instructors and the attendees.
Note: Participation in all 7 virtual sessions, as well as the 6 coaching sessions, is mandatory and required for continuing education credits. Partial credits will not be given.
