Event Description


BCLE-AUD CSA Z1600 is designed for internal & external auditors, experienced corporate planners, and persons interested in self-assessing programs, assessing program for clients, or performing audits to better measure their state of preparedness. This course is an interactive program that provides training, tools and hands-on experience to help attendees understand the key components of continuity and emergency management programs. This course covers relevant standard, laws and regulations, the process of risk assessment, vulnerability analysis, loss prevention, risk mitigation, and the development, implementation, testing and maintenance of plans and procedures. Course materials delve into existing legal and regulatory requirements by industry and country, as well as emerging requirements. Specifically CSA Z1600-2017 and DRI International’s professional practices.  Examples in financial services, insurance, healthcare, utilities, public sector guidance and a host of others will be explored. In addition, careful attention will be paid to the processes by which continuity and emergency management programs are initiated with an eye toward corporate governance, policy, and procedures. The tools provided will allow planners to perform audits in accordance with CSA Z1600-2017. Emphasis on audit requirements and documentation will aid in the evaluation of records, organizational roles and responsibilities, process flows and corporate oversight.

DRIC Certiciation: Upon successfully completing the Qualifying Exam one may apply for their CBCA/CBCLA certification

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe the purpose of a business continuity management (BCM) program, of BCM standards, of BCM program audit and of third-party certification
  2. Apply auditing concepts to assessing BCM programs using CSA Z1600-2017
  3. Plan, conduct, report and follow up an audit of a BCM program to establish conformity with the CSA Z1600-2017 standard
  4. Define and differentiate types of audits and their BCM application
  5. Understand the concepts of compliance and conformity as they apply to BCM audits
  6. Preparation for certification as a Certified Business Continuity Auditor (CBCA) or Certified Business Continuity Lead Auditor (CBCLA)
