Association of Energy Engineers - KC Chapter - Event Information

Event Name:January Meeting - Energy Efficient Boiler Plants

Presentation Description:

This presentation compares and contrasts popular boiler piping schemes used for condensing boiler plants.  We’ll look carefully at variable primary and primary secondary piping and how they can impact system efficiency. There’s a lot to think about when designing an efficient boiler plant; low return water temperatures, minimum flow rates, short cycling, and boiler turndown.  We’ll look at real world examples and crunch the numbers that will help avoid efficiency killing situations like chronic short cycling.  Some points the presentation will cover are below

  • Boiler efficiency considerations
  • Achieving low return water temperatures to boilers
  • Short cycling considerations
  • Variable primary system piping
  • Primary secondary boiler piping
  • Boiler turndown
  • Other system design configurations
