Oklahoma Restaurant Association - Event Information
Hirst Hospitality Awards 2019
It's the 21st anniversary of the Hirst Hospitality Awards! Held each November, this event honors all the hardworking employees in the foodservice industry. Last year alone, the Oklahoma Restaurant Association recognized more than 80 of “Oklahoma’s Best of the Best” foodservice employees in the state! Every year, to honor these employees, the Hirst Hospitality Awards holds an open raffle, wine draws and more!
"This evening of celebration is a wonderful opportunity for our members and friends of our business to get together and honor those employees who often go unrecognized but who are so important to the success of the foodservice industry," says Jim Hopper, President and CEO of the Oklahoma Restaurant Association.
This event pays tribute to the backbone of the restaurant industry - the restaurant employees. It gives employers the opportunity to single out and recognize their best workers, while at the same time supporting the Oklahoma Hospitality Foundation's goal of providing scholarships to qualified students of the hospitality industry. This goal is met not only through paid attendance at the event, but with contributions made during the raffle, wine draws and more!

Meet our Guest Wine Vintner...
We are honored to have Jeff Smith as our guest vintner for the 21st Annual Hirst Hospitality Awards.
Smith, Founder & CEO of Hourglass Vineyards, had the unique experience of growing up around the dinner tables of many prominent wine families who transformed Napa Valley into a world class wine growing region. With this unique vantage point, he noticed a paradigm shift in the early ’90s toward small terroir driven estate wines… wines truly defined by their place. He took a small four acre family vineyard in St. Helena, replanted it to Cabernet, enlisted the help of winemaker friend Bob Foley, and launched Hourglass. From the inaugural 1997 release, the Hourglass estate bottling has evolved into one of Napa’s most esteemed Cabernets. In 2006, with the help of two partners, Smith procured the Blueline estate in the Calistoga appellation with the goal of finding a new vineyard site that could rival the Hourglass estate. Smith constructed a cutting edge winery at the Blueline estate, and crafted a series of vineyard designated wines from the property. Hourglass is now dedicated to producing limited quantities of modern, vineyard designated, Bordeaux varietals from the two vineyards.
