Each day offers opportunity to experience something new. I know that trying new things is uncomfortable. However, Robert Frost poetically describes his thoughts by choosing “the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” Each day I purposefully look for the road less traveled and I have never been disappointed in the treasures that lay in that path. I offer opportunities for each of you to walk down my path, WITH me, if even for just a moment.
NWI and I welcome you to come and participate in a FUN Community Service Project for Northwest Initiative’s Mobile Farmers Market. As you may know, NWI guides neighbors toward living healthier lives, training to create individual resilience, as well as teaching how to live inter-dependently within their own community. By offering counseling sessions, stress management training, job creation, cooking classes, and bringing healthy food to the neighborhoods for purchase, NWI is making a difference!
The community service project, Dreams in Jeans, was created to walk down the road less taken, together. By joint effort, we will make quality reusable shopping bags for purchase at a nominal cost, with 100% of the proceeds going to financially support NWI Mobile Farmer’s Market.
YOU are needed! There are many different opportunities to participate in the process. First, all of the materials have been donated: blue jeans and the lining fabric. Therefore, labor is the next concern. The labor happens to be… YOU. Here are the basic different stages of the creative process:
Wash (DONE!), disassemble, press, trace template, cut, design, and then sew. See? You can find a job that suits you to a tee! As each stage of the project is valuable, how can you stay away?
This is a time for fellowship. Stay for minutes or hours. The time commitment is up to you. All the needed tools are provided. However, if you desire, bring your own pair of scissors or sewing machine! Food will be provided and you may always bring more food and/or a friend!
