Workshop topics include:
How Technical Services can help your staff – Technical services can provide a vital link to making the lives of circulation staff easier by anticipating issues that may arise during everyday operations. Utilizing pilot programs to introduce new collections the library is able to anticipate how new collections will be received and then how to ramp those to full implementation. E-books from Beginning to End- Follow the entire process for developing and maintaining an eBook collection from budgeting though selection to acquisitions and cataloging and finally to weeding. Learn what data is available to drive decisions and how to insure that your eBook collection is meeting the needs of your community. Presenters: Greg Burlingame, Collections Director, Stark County District Library Greg Burlingame has worked at the Stark County District Library for 31 years. Starting as a shelver, then circulation clerk, publicity assistant, IT help desk, branch manager, fiction selector, virtual library manager and now Collections Director, his background has afforded him opportunities to work in a number of roles within the library. This provides him a unique perspective as problems arise and how solutions can be implemented that benefit the library as a whole. Kelly Ott, Ergonomics Consultant, Ohio Bureau of Worker's Compensation Assist employers with developing a system based approach to ergonomics. Provide services such as Safety (ergonomics) team assessment & development, Library ergonomics, Office and "at home" ergonomics, safety culture assessment and strategic planning. Provide on-site consultation services including assessments, evaluations and training to prevent future injuries and illnesses. Patricia Lowrey, Digital Projects Advisor, Overdrive. Tish Lowrey grew up in New Orleans and graduated from Louisiana State University with a BA in English Literature and a MLS. She worked mostly in public libraries for 40 years until retiring as the Director of Technical Services for the Cleveland Public Library. While at CPL., she managed the CLEVNET OverDrive collection and services from 2003 to 2017. As a part-time Digital Collection Advisor for OverDrive, she works primarily on special projects such as Instant Library Cards and Cost-Per-Circ. Lunch and light refreshments will be provided.
