New to Libraries Networking Event: Resume Review

Event Description
Interested in brushing up your resume?  Looking for some advice on how to nail that interview? A four-person speaker panel will present on topics including perfectly tailoring your resume to the position, strategies for answering interview questions, and more!  Please bring a copy of your current resume and targeted job advertisement to get feedback on at the end of the session.  We look forward to seeing you there!
 
Speaker Panelists:
Karla Aleman is the new Dean of the Library and eLearning at Lorain County Community College in Elyria, OH. Previously she has worked as the Distance Instruction Librarian at Morehead State University and as a faculty librarian at the College of DuPage.  Karla will talk on the importance of coordinating resumes and cover letters with the specificities of a job advertisement.
 
Lori Fielding is an Associate Professor of Bibliography at University Libraries at the University of Akron.  Lori is also the subject librarian for Art, Asian & Middle East Studies, Counseling, Gender Studies, Psychology, and Sociology at the University of Akron.
Susan DiRenzo Ashby currently serves as the Coordinator for Library Systems at University Libraries at the University of Akron. Susan is also an Associate Professor with the University of Akron.  Susan DiRenzo Ashby and Lori Fielding are both veterans of dozens of search committees at The University of Akron and are looking forward to sharing their wisdom and advice.  Lori and Susan will share on the differences between a resume and Curriculum Vitæ and best practices for both.  The duo will also offer tips for handling and submitting online job applications.
 
Dr. Mary Hricko serves as the Library Director of Kent State University Geauga Campus and the Regional Academic Center.  Mary is also a Professor with the  University Libraries at Kent State University. Currently Dr. Hricko is one of OhioLINK's Affordable Learning Ambassadors.  Mary will be speaking on the importance of being prepared for the interview and offer some strategies that can assist in responding to questions of the search committee.

New-to-Libraries Network is a group open to anyone new to libraries–LIS students, library staff, information professionals, and librarians from any kind of library. NLN meets a number of times throughout the year to provide networking and professional development opportunities for those new to the field.
