Event Description
OH&LA will offer Certification in Hotel Administration (CHA®). We must have a minimum of 12 people enrolled to hold the course, which will include group study sessions and conclude with the exam. A study group is a very effective strategy for enhancing learning prior to preparing for certification exams. Our study sessions and exam course will be taught by certified CHA Instructor David W. Davis, Interim Associate Director at Oklahoma State University School of Hotel & Restaurant Administration.

The CHA is the most prestigious certification available to hotel general managers and hospitality executives. It identifies the recipient as being part of an elite group of hospitality professionals who, by combining education and experience with dedication to the industry, have achieved a high level of expertise.

Achieving the CHA certification announces that you have a place among the best in your profession, are knowledgeable of current trends and latest hospitality protocols (including the new revenue management component); and serves as leverage in current and future career opportunities.

Eligibility
Because individual backgrounds vary widely in the hospitality industry, applicants may pursue the CHA designation if currently employed for a minimum of two years in these qualifying positions:
  • General Manager, owner/operator in a lodging hospitality company, or corporate executive* at a lodging hospitality company responsible for the operation of two or more properties.
  • Assistant General Manager or Director of Operations/Rooms Division (after successfully completing the CRDE® certification)

OH&LA Fees
Covers study sessions and facility fees.
  • $225 - OH&LA Study & Exam Sessions
(After registering with OH&LA you will receive a confirmation prompting you to register for your CHA certification through AHLEI, and you will pay those fees directly to AHLEI. AHLEI fees: $525 AHLA member / $700 non-member).

Session/Exam Schedule (8:00am-5:00pm each date)
  • Don't delay your registration. The very last day to sign up for the CHA course is February 15; if we do not have a minimum of ten registrants we will not hold the session. Once 12 attendees have processed their OH&LA Study Group registration a survey of the best class dates will take place and the study dates will be scheduled. 1 each in OKC, Tulsa and Stillwater. The exam date will be decided at a mutually agreeable date in the future. Once the class has filled you will then apply for your certification and pay fees to the AH&LA.
