Event Name:Five Rivers Voyage
Event Type(s):Other

The Five Rivers Voyage (FRV) is a fundraising event being planned by the WFP Committee of the Michigan Water Environment Association (MWEA) to help Water For People (WFP) achieve the goal of creating a world where everyone has access to water and sanitation, forever.

FRV will start in Lac Vieux Desert, MI, in the headwaters of the Wisconsin River. It will end on Lake Michigan in Chicago, IL. Supporters will be able to log into a dedicated webpage to see a detailed breadcrumb trail of the voyage and Facebook updates will also be made to highlight points on the trip.

The voyage will begin on August 1, 2017, and end almost 2 months later on September 29, 2017 at the annual conference of the Water Environment Federation in Chicago (WEFTEC 2017). Follow reports of the voyage on our Facebook page named Paddle With Purpose River Voyages.

The kayakers will be Gary and Linda De Kock from Grand Rapids, MI. They will be assisted from time to time by friends in the many communities that border the river and lake.

Fundraising Goal:

A goal of $11,760 in pledges has been set with a deadline of October 31, 2017. The goal is based on a total pledge level of $10.00 for each of the 1,176 miles in the Five Rivers Voyage. The voyage is self-funded by the participants, so 100% of every pledge goes to Water For People. Pledges to the Water For People, Five Rivers Voyage can be paid directly to MWEA-FRV, PO Box 397, Bath, MI 48808 or through MWEA or Crowdrise websites. Please make checks out to MWEA WFP Five Rivers Voyage.
