The Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA) is targeted at industry professionals such as general managers, revenue managers, corporate staff, travel and tourism professionals, trainers and research staff from a variety of organizations including Hotel companies and hotels, Management companies and owners, Tourism/Travel organizations, Hotel associations, Convention and Visitor Bureaus, Developers, consultants and appraisers, Hotel-related vendors and other organizations serving the hotel industry.
The course will be taught by certified CHIA Instructor David W. Davis, Interim Associate Director at Oklahoma State University School of Hotel & Restaurant Administration.
This two-day course will be held on:

Friday, June 30 • 8:00am - 6:00pm

The Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA) is the only hotel-related certification for industry professionals focused on analytics. This recognition provides evidence of a thorough knowledge of the foundational metrics, definitions, formulas, and methodologies that are used by the hotel industry. Recipients show that they can “do the math” and interpret the results.
Obtaining the CHIA certification confirms recipients have:
demonstrated an ability to analyze various types of hotel industry data and to make strategic inferences based upon that analysis
a comprehensive understanding of benchmarking and performance reports
a grasp of the current landscape of the hotel industry, including relevant current events
The CHIA is jointly offered by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) and STR.

This online program has been specifically developed to prepare candidates for the actual exam. Quiz questions are also included to help target preparation activities and test the candidate’s comprehension of hotel industry analytics.

Training includes case scenarios, hints, sample reports, industry “tricks of the trade”, analysis examples, quizzes, discussion questions, and application exercises where participants gain hands-on experience working with hotel data.
CHIA Exam
Candidates have access to the CHIA online review program for six months from the date of purchase and must successfully complete the certification exam within the six-month period. Candidates are allowed 90 minutes to complete the exam. A minimum score of 70% on the 50-question exam must be achieved to earn the CHIA designation and receive a certificate.
Candidates who do not achieve a 70% score are allowed to retake the exam up to two additional times at a cost of $50 per attempt.
Recertification - Every 5 years
Recertification requires successful completion of a short test. An online tutorial will assist you in preparing for the recertification exam.
