Description:The Oklahoma Hotel & Lodging Association's annual Lodging Summit is our most exciting event of the year, in which lodging operators and their key team members have the opportunity to network with colleagues and others important to the success of their operation. The Summit also welcomes and introduces membership to the leadership of the American Hotel & Lodging Association. The day's activities include Oklahoma lodging's largest Vendor Expo where operators meet with the top providers of products and services pertinent to the hotel industry. 

A key feature to the event is when the OH&LA announces recipients of the annual Stars of the Industry Awards program, which was created to honor the outstanding professionals in Oklahoma’s lodging industry. The awards are presented to individuals and properties that epitomize the service and spirit of our industry.

HOTELPAC and the OH&LA PAC serve to strengthen the lodging and hospitality industry's political voice, educate and mobilize members to become more politically active, and support candidates who promote legislation and policies that create a fair business environment, allowing the hospitality industry, and specifically the lodging industry, to create jobs and grow the economy. Our special guest will be AH&LA's Senior VP and department head of Government Affairs, Vanessa Sinders.

9:30 - 11:00am Annual Membership and Board of Directors meeting featuring AH&LA’S Senior VP, Government Affairs, Vanessa Sinders

In this meeting, you’ll hear the latest information regarding the association’s activities, the Nominating Committee’s recommendation for 2018 leadership and hear from AH&LA’S Senior VP, Government Affairs, Vanessa Sinders, as she shares AH&LA's strategy for elevating government advocacy efforts and demonstrating to policy makers the importance of the lodging industry as an economic driver and job creator.

This session is held in accordance with OH&LA By-laws and is open to all Summit attendees. Annual Meeting voting rights are exclusive to only OH&LA members.
 
11:00 - 12:30pm     Vendor Expo
Lodging industry suppliers will be on hand to mingle with attendees, while displaying and demonstrating new services and products available to lodging operators. Get first-hand information from exhibitors and “earn” a chance to win prizes for your property and hotel associates. OH&LA member and non-member suppliers may participate in the Summit by downloading 
this form to confirm their exhibit at the Vendor Expo. 

Silent Auction
We are accepting donations for this year’s silent auction, proceeds from which support future OH&LA educational programs. Attendees will have a host of exciting auction items from which to choose, including sports memorabilia, electronics, hotel accommodations and gift items.

12:30 - 2:00pm     Stars of the Industry Awards Luncheon
Take part in an exciting discovery and celebration of Oklahoma’s Stars of the Industry recognizing the most outstanding lodging employees and community service projects of the year. This program was created more than two decades ago by AH&LA, and in partnership the OH&LA has recognized Oklahoma's top hospitality professions for the past 20 years.  While the categories have evolved over the years, the concept is still the same — to honor lodging employees and properties that best symbolize the quality service of the industry.

  • Non-members: $160/seat
Table Discounts*:

Speakers
Vanessa Sinders
Senior Vice President, Government Affairs, AH&LA

Vanessa Sinders is senior vice president and department head of government affairs for the American Hotel & Lodging Association.

In this role, she oversees the association’s advocacy efforts nationally, and is responsible for directing the governmental affairs department in the development and execution of key strategies for addressing the issues facing the lodging industry, including technology and distribution, workforce and labor issues as well as the promotion of travel and tourism. She also directs the association’s political action committee, HotelPAC, and grassroots program.

Ms. Sinders comes to AHLA from her previous position as chief of staff for the Campaign to Fix the Debt, a bipartisan organization advocating for a solution to the nation's long-term debt problems. Prior to that, she was chief of staff for former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown (R), the policy director for former New Hampshire Senator Judd Gregg (R), and served as an analyst for the Senate Budget Committee. Ms. Sinders received her BA in Government from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
