Details
For teachers who have previously attended the Marti Middle PLE, KCM plans to offer (pending approval of grant funding) a brand new PLE for 2016-17. KCM Middle Graduates will be a free two-day PLE that will allow middle school educators to further explore strategies for supporting students in who are struggling with 6th and 7th grade mathematics. These sessions are follow-ups for the Marti Middle 6 & 7 sessions that KCM offered over the past two years. This new PLE will provide additional opportunities for previous Marti Middle participants to continue to explore strategies for teaching middle school mathematics. We will cover content not previously addressed in Marti Middle.

Participants will:
  • Identify Big Ideas embedded in middle school Kentucky Core Academic Standards for Mathematics and Standards for Mathematical Practice
  • Use instructional strategies to improve critical thinking, problem solving, and classroom discourse
  • Explore evidence-based instructional strategies that can be used to help all 6th and 7th grade students
  • Analyze student responses and interpret evidence of student understanding and skills
  • Receive resources such as ready-made activities, manipulatives, books, etc.

Participants should be Kentucky 6th or 7th grade educators who previously participated in the KCM Marti Middle program.

Registration will no longer be available for this event after 11:59 p.m. on August 19, 2016.

**IMPORTANT: This professional learning experience is entirely contingent on the receipt of grant funding. If funding is not received, this opportunity will no longer be available. You will be notified if this should occur.**
